Off. Social Campaign
Off. is a hypothetical social campaign that shows the statistics of phone addiction, but in a light-hearted way that takes witty jabs at its audience, while providing alternatives and solutions.
This is a group project that I did with my peers, Cody Pham and Dan Feng Yang.
Collaboration
Conducting Surveys / Statistical Analysis
Illustration
The average student spends 5-15 hours on their phone each week, with the most, (14%) spending over 65 hours on their screen.*
The majority of students reported that they feel like their phone impacts their mental health.*
*data taken from our own survey of WWU students
Solution Statement
“For college students who need to decrease their screen time addiction, “off.” is a wellness campaign that provides resources and methods to get users off their phone more often, and establish healthy practices long term for screen usage.”
Flowchart
This flowchart showcases how each of our group members’ touchpoints work together for the campagin. I contributed to the Posters, Flyer, and Zine.
Poster Series
I took statistics from a survey I conducted for Western Washington University students about phone usage. I then took the most impactful statements and created a poster series showcasing phone addiction’s impacts for college students. In this exercise, I practiced illustration and witty copywriting.
Leaflet
I created a leaflet with the intention of it being posted on Instagram, or handed out to people who are glued to their phones.
Zine
Lastly, I created a zine that targets the ethos of our campaign. It tells a story from the reader’s perspective on how hard it is to battle phone addition, and how off. is here to help.
